Answer:- 

  • Alkyl halides lack the ability to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules.
  • Furthermore, the intermolecular attraction between alkyl halide molecules is stronger than the interaction between alkyl halides and water.
  • As a result of these factors, even though alkyl halides are moderately polar, they are immiscible with water.
