Chapter 2  Solutions Class 12 Chemistry Maharashtra Board Textbook Solution

3. Answer the following.

i. How vapour pressure lowering is related to a rise in boiling point of solution?

Answer:-

vapor pressure lowering is a consequence of the solute’s effect on the liquid’s surface and results in a decrease in the vapor pressure of the solvent.

This, in turn, leads to a rise in the boiling point of the solution because it takes more heat (higher temperature) to reach the reduced vapor pressure and achieve boiling.
