chapter 6. CHEMICAL KINETICS class 12 chemistry textbook solution

3. Answer the following in brief.

ix. Explain with the help of Arrhenius equation, how does the rate of reaction changes with (a) temperature and (b) activation energy.

Answer:-  a)

The Arrhenius equation, k = e-Ea / RT, shows that as the temperature rises, Ea / RT decreases, leading to an increase in -Ea / RT. This increase in -Ea / RT results in an increase in k and consequently, an increase in the rate of reaction.

b)

The decrease in the activation energy (Ea) results in a decrease in Ea / RT, which in turn increases -Ea / RT and consequently, increases the rate of reaction.
